T-90 main battle tank

The T-90 is the latest development in the T-series of Russian tanks and represents an increase in firepower, mobility and protection. It is manufactured by Uralvagonzavod in Nizhnyi Tagil, Russia. The T-90 is currently the most modern tank in the Russian Ground Forces and Indian Army arsenal. The successor to T-72BM, the T-90 uses the gun and 1G46 gunner sights from T-80U, a new engine, and thermal sights. Protective measures include Kontakt-5 ERA, laser warning receivers, the EMT-7 electromagnetic pulse creator for the destruction of magnetic mines and the Shtora infrared ATGM jamming system. P-47 Thunderbolt Gun Cam

The American Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was the largest single engine fighter of World War II. Almost 15,000 Thunderbolts, also known as the Jug, were manufactured. Designed as a fighter, the P-47 Thunderbolt was highly effective at high altitudes were it maneuvered very well. The Thunderbolt proved itself in the ground attack role, and in honor of that, the A-10 Thunderbolt II was named after the legendary Jug. Nordenfelt gun

The Nordenfelt gun was designed by Swedish engineer Helge Palmcrantz as a multiple barrel machine gun.
The machine gun had a maximum of twelve barrels and was manufactured for calibres up to 25 mm.

The mechanism which loaded and fired the gun was patented in 1873 and consisted of a lever moved backwards and forwards.

Merkava Mark 4 main battle tank

The Merkava Mark 4 is the latest main battle tank to enter service with the Israeli Defence Force (IDF). Tracing its roots way back to the 1960s, the Merkava ( Hebrew for chariot ) was named after the IDF development program launched to design and manufacture a main battle tank domestically. The Merkava Mark 4 is probably the best protected tank in the world.

Produced by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), of Munchen, Germany the Leopard 2 is probably the best tank on the battlefield today. With operators like Germany, Austria, Chile, Canada, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Switzerland and Turkey the Leopard 2 is one of the best selling tanks in the world.

Microwave heat-ray weapon unveiled by US military

I once was curious enough to put a finger above a hole in my microwave oven. The result? A pleasant heat wave, similar to that of opening a oven door, hits you. Now imagine this feeling but instead of a pleasant heat wave, a burning sensation.

This is the weapon that is expected to enter service in 2010 mainly a crowd disperser. It uses powerful microwaves at 95 GHz, that pass through your clothes without setting them on fire, and heat the water molecules of which your body is formed. The microwaves are not strong enough to cause severe burns, but rather to give the nerves under your skin a touch of pain, at a relative temperature of 50 degrees Celsius. (Read more…)
